Matcha - Ginger Green Tea
Matcha literally means "powdered tea". Sencha and Matcha are both from the same plant. Camellia Sinensis, a Green Tea which is non-fermented tea. Unlike traditional Green Tea, matcha preparation involves covering the tea plants with shade cloths before it is harvested. This triggers the growth of leaves with better flavor and texture, which are hand selected, steamed briefly to stop fermentation, then dried and aged in cold storage, which deepens the flavor. The dried leaves are then stone-ground into a fine powder. Matcha gives a steady energy boost from a high concentration of chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals present in Green Tea.
Sencha is Japanese Green Tea which is the most popular tea in Japan. The flavor of Sencha Tea steeped from quality Green Tea leaf is bright, refreshing, and uplifting. Sencha is loaded with Catechins which provide antioxidant benefits. We source our Matcha and Sencha from Japan.
Ginger is a powerful and flavourful root. Rated as one of the most important herbs in the world, it has been used as a natural remedy for centuries. Ginger adds spicy, hot aromatic flavor to the smooth, creamy savory Matcha and the rich refreshing Sencha, leaving no pungent after taste.
Caffeine, sometimes referred to as Theine can be found in all teas derived from the tea plant Camellia Sinensis. Because Matcha is made from crushed whole tea leaves, the caffeine content is somewhat higher than that of bagged tea. In fact, the Matcha caffeine levels can actually equal half the level of a black cup of coffee. When comparing Matcha's caffeine to steeped green tea you receive 31.8 mg caffeine in regular green tea and 68mg of caffeine in Ceremonial Matcha.
