  • Matcha literally means 'powdered tea' from Camellia Sensis plant. It is a non-fermented Green tea. Preparation of Matcha involves covering the tea plants with shade cloths before harvesting. This triggers the growth of leaves with better flavor and texture. The leaves are then hand selected and picked and steamed briefly to stop the fermentation process. These are then dried and aged in cold storage, a process that helps to deepen the flavour. The dried leaves are then stone-ground into fine Matcha powder. Mathca gives a steady energy boost from a high concentration of chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals present in Green Tea. We source our Mathca from Japan.

Caffeine, sometimes referred to as Theine can be found in all teas derived from the tea plant Camellia Sinensis. Because Matcha consists of the entire tea leaf in a powdered form, it is relatively high in Caffeine. The typical serving size of Matcha varies from ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon, or 1 to 2 grams of Matcha. Your actual caffeine consumption can vary from 34 to about 68mg, whether you use ½ tsp or 1 tsp.
